Media Contact: Bill Walsh, 970-385-6554, bwalsh@uc.usbr.gov

For Release: May 21, 2004

The Bureau of Reclamation is hosting an open house on issues dealing with Vallecito Reservoir and the surrounding area. The open house will be held Tuesday, June 1, at 6 p.m. at Vallecito Lake Church, County Road 501.

The purpose of the meeting is for Reclamation to give a simple overview of our role, applicable legal responsibilities, and issues on lands under our jurisdiction in the Vallecito area. The meeting will also provide an opportunity for local, state, county, and federal agencies to share their input on their unique relationships and responsibilities with Reclamation, relative to the Vallecito Reservoir area.

We encourage public participation from all who attend during the question and answer session. We hope to learn from those who have invested in restoring our natural resources after the fire at Vallecito. We appreciate everyone’s tireless stewardship and anticipate the meeting will strengthen our continued partnerships.
