Media Contact: Randy Green, 970-385-6527, rgreen@uc.usbr.gov

For Release: July 06, 2004

The Bureau of Reclamation will begin a nine month repair project to perform required maintenance on the 4x4 auxiliary outlet gates at Navajo Dam, NM starting July 12. An outlet gate is a high pressure gate that releases water from the reservoir.

July 12 through July15 and July 19 through 22, Reclamation will need to construct a 2,500 square-foot barge in Navajo Reservoir adjacent to the boat ramp at the Pineriver Recreation Area. While unloading and assembly of the barge is in progress only one side of the boat ramp will be open to the public. Traffic control will direct traffic while the one side is closed. The public should expect slight delays at the Pineriver boat ramp. For more information call Randy Green with the Bureau of Reclamation at 970-385-6527.
