Environmental Documents Available for the Renewal of the Sacramento River Division CVP Long-Term Water Service Contracts

The Bureau of Reclamation announces the availability of the Draft Revised Environmental Assessment EA) and the Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed Central Valley Project CVP) long-term water service contracts between Reclamation and the Sacramento River Division Contractors. The Sacramento River Division includes the Tehama-Colusa Canal Unit, Corning Canal Unit, and the Black Butte Unit of the CVP. The proposed contracts are for the delivery of up to 322,000 acre-feet of CVP water to the Sacramento River Division contractors for 25 years or 40 years. The 25-year renewal period applies to contracts with agricultural uses or a combination of agricultural/municipal and industrial (M&I) uses. The 40-year renewal period applies to contracts with M&I uses only.

The Draft Revised EA and Draft FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available for a 30-day public review and comment period. On July 2, 2004, a 60-day public review and comment period was initiated for the associated long-term CVP water service contracts for the Black Butte Unit, Tehama-Colusa Canal Unit, and the Corning Canal Unit.
