BILLINGS, Mont. -- The Bureau of Reclamation will complete two major shoreline stabilization projects to correct severe erosion issues at Canyon Ferry Reservoir during the spring of 2013. The projects include bioengineered and structural stabilization methods in order to protect and prevent further erosion.

Stabilization will begin at Cave Point in late February. The Cave Point day-use area will be closed to the public from late February to late June. The Cemetery Island stabilization will begin in April and run through mid-June.

Shannon boat launch area will be used for staging construction, and will remain open to the public throughout the construction. Construction activities may need to be suspended due to weather conditions, which could extend project duration. Construction may be delayed or impacted by reservoir levels. The contractor performing the project will be S&K Environmental, LLC from Arlee, Mont.
