Environmental Documents Available for the Buena Vista Water Storage District Water Use and Irrigation Efficiency Project

FRESNO, Calif. -- Reclamation has released for public review environmental documents regarding proposed water distribution improvements within Kern County that would be funded in part by a grant from WaterSMART’s Bay-Delta Agricultural Water Conservation and Efficiency Program.

The Buena Vista Water Storage District plans to reduce seepage and evaporation losses by installing equipment such as metered turnouts, automated control structures and flow meters. WaterSMART is a federal cost-share funding program established to help provide a sustainable water supply for the nation.

The Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact (EA/FONSI) were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and is available at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=9870.
