FRESNO, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement to evaluate the 20-year extension (March 1, 2015 through February 28, 2034) of the existing 2005 Mendota Pool 10-year Exchange Agreements which span the years 2005 to 2014.

Under the proposed extension, Reclamation would issue a series of annual or multi-year exchange agreements with farmers over a 20-year period. The project goals are to improve the reliability of providing cost effective irrigation water deliveries to the San Luis Canal without affecting Central Valley Project water deliveries at Mendota Pool.

A public scoping meeting is being held to solicit public input on topics to be addressed in the environmental document including resources to be evaluated, alternatives to be considered and significant concerns and issues. The meeting is scheduled as follows:

Fresno
Tuesday, Nov. 27
4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Bureau of Reclamation’s South-Central California Area Office,
1243 N Street, Fresno CA 93721

Written comments on the scope of the environmental document should be received by close of business Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, and should be sent to Rain Healer, Bureau of Reclamation, 1243 N Street, Fresno, CA 93721, via email at rhealer@usbr.gov, or faxed to 559-487-5194. For additional information, please contact Healer at 559-487-5196 (TTY 800-735-2929).
