GLENDALE, Ariz. — Reclamation has issued an Environmental Assessment (EA) and a draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) regarding potential environmental impacts of an agreement with the Roosevelt Water Conservation District (RWCD). The agreement was executed on December 20, 2010, for a term of approximately 10 years.

The agreement provides for excess Central Arizona Project (CAP) water to be applied within the RWCD groundwater saving facility on a gallon-for-gallon basis in lieu of groundwater that RWCD would otherwise have pumped from the Phoenix Active Management Area. Existing infrastructure will be used to distribute the water from the CAP.

A complete description of the proposed action, the EA, and the draft FONSI are available at www.usbr.gov/lc/phoenix or a hard copy can be obtained by calling Reclamation’s Environmental Resource Management Division at 623-773-6251 or e-mailing jharagara@usbr.gov.

Reclamation has determined that a FONSI is appropriate; however, all comments on the EA will be considered prior to making a final decision. The final decision will be made available at www.usbr.gov/lc/phoenix.

To be most helpful, comments should be as specific as possible and sent to Reclamation at 6150 West Thunderbird Road, Glendale, AZ 85306, Attention: Ms. Sandra Eto; emailed to seto@usbr.gov; or faxed to (623) 773-6486, no later than September 14, 2012.

If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Eto at (623) 773-6254.
