Beaverhead River Access Temporarily Closed

BILLINGS, Mont. -- The Bureau of Reclamation will be making improvements to Lake View Road, located below Clark Canyon Dam, beginning on Sept. 10.

"Access to the Beaverhead River at this location will be closed for approximately 10 days while improvements to the gravel road are completed," said Jeff Baumberger, Resource Division Manager for the Montana Area Office. "Floaters and fishermen will still be able to access the Beaverhead River at Buffalo Bridge Fishing Access Site located one half mile below the dam."

Clark Canyon Dam is constructed at the head of the Beaverhead River. The zoned earthfill dam has a structural height of 147.5 feet, a crest length of 2,950 feet, and a volume of 1,970,000 cubic yards of material.
