For Release: February 14, 2005

The Bureau of Reclamation and Goleta Water District (District) will hold a public meeting to solicit comments on the scope of issues relating to the proposed transfer of ownership from Reclamation to the District.

The District has expressed interest in obtaining title to the federally-owned distribution facilities it has used exclusively, and has been operating and maintaining since 1952. The facilities are part of the Federal Cachuma Project (Project). These facilities are separate and distinct from all other Project facilities, are utilized, and have been repaid exclusively by the District. Reclamation does not consider them to be of national importance. The public meeting will be held in: Goleta Tuesday, February 22, 2005 6 - 8 p.m. Board Room Goleta Water District 4699 Hollister Avenue

The proposed title transfer would apply to only land and facilities and would not affect the District's existing water service contract with Santa Barbara County Water Agency or the Federal government receipts from water deliveries under that contract.
