SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation is extending the public comment period to provide comments on a Draft Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact (EA/FONSI) related to approval of annual transfers of Central Valley Project water supplies. The comment period has been extended to July 10, 2012. The previous comment period deadline was July 5.

The EA/FONSI involves annual transfers of up to 20,500 acre-feet of Central Valley Project water from Central California Irrigation District to San Luis, Panoche, Del Puerto and Westlands Water Districts, and up to 5,000 acre-feet of Central Valley Project Water from Firebaugh Canal Water District to San Luis Water District or Westlands Water District.

Following potential execution of the FONSI and approval by the Contracting Officer, the proposed transfers would allow water districts and landowners flexibility to manage limited water supplies from July 2012 through December 2012 and April 2013 through December 2013.
