The Bureau of Reclamation will host an information meeting to present streamflow forecasts and projected reservoir operations for Jackson Lake Dam and other Snake River reservoirs on May 17. The meeting will be held at the Antler Inn Conference Room, 43 West Pearl Street, in Jackson, Wyoming, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Forecasts for the upper Snake River flood control operations show a below average snowpack will mean less water will be released since reservoirs have plenty of space for anticipated snowmelt.

Jackson Lake Reservoir has been allowed to fill to 88% of capacity as of May 9. This leaves more than 100,000 acre-feet of empty space to use for reducing snowmelt flows.

"The contrast with last year is impressive," said Mike Beus, Reclamation's Water Operations Manager for the Upper Snake Field Office, "2011 ranked 3rd highest volume in the last century, now we have less than average."

The Antler Inn meeting facility is accessible to people with disabilities. Please contact Jami Andersen, with the Bureau of Reclamation Upper Snake Field Office at (208) 678-0461, ext. 22 for sign language interpretation for the hearing impaired or other auxiliary aids.

Jackson Lake Dam is located on the Snake River near Moran, Wy. The dam is part of the Minidoka Project and was originally constructed in 1911. It was later reconstructed in 1989 under authority of Reclamation's Safety of Dams Act.
