The Bureau of Reclamation has named a new manager for the Western Colorado Area Office. Edward Warner will assume responsibilities for Reclamation's activities in Western Colorado and northwestern New Mexico, according to Upper Colorado Regional Director Larry Walkoviak.

"I appreciate the depth of knowledge and experience that Ed brings to this important position," said Walkoviak. "He has an impressive track record in building effective partnerships, strategic planning, and collaboratively working through complex issues with multiple stakeholders."

Since February 2011, Warner has served as the deputy area manager for the Western Colorado Area Office which has responsibility for 15 projects and numerous program activities in the Upper Colorado, Gunnision, Yampa, White, Dolores, Uncompahgre, Animas, and San Juan river basins. During his 30-year career with Reclamation, he has held many key positions in Reclamation's Grand Junction-based office that have prepared him well to serve as area manager.

Warner has fulfilled a number of important leadership roles for significant projects including transition of the Animas-La Plata Project to the managing entity for long-term operation and maintenance; negotiations with tribes on Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project repayment contracts; successful completion of environmental impact statements for both Navajo Unit and Aspinall Unit operations; significant involvement in the historic Black Canyon of the Gunnison Water Rights Decree; and serving on Reclamation's Managing for Excellence team charged with outlining a loan guarantee program.

Warner has also been recognized for his outstanding work throughout his career, most notably in 2004 by the Secretary of the Interior for outstanding communications and conservation work, and as the 2005 Reclamation Engineer of the Year.

Warner holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Colorado State University and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Colorado.
