Bureau of Reclamation to Host Meeting of the Bighorn River System Issues Group

BILLINGS, Mont. -- The Bighorn River System Issues Group will meet on Tuesday, April 10, in Lovell, Wyo. at the Lovell Community Center, 1925 Hwy 310 from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 3:00 p.m.

The Bighorn River System Issues Group is an open consortium which includes representatives from: Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks; Wyoming Game and Fish; the Bureau of Reclamation; the National Park Service; the Western Area Power Administration; the Bureau of Indian Affairs; the Crow Tribe; various recreation-related interest groups; members of the general public; and, landowners downstream of Yellowtail Dam. The theme of this meeting will include side channel restoration on the Bighorn River below Yellowtail Dam and proposed sediment control projects on the Bighorn River above Bighorn Lake.

The Bighorn River System Issues Group was formed in 2007 to identify, explore, and recommend long-term, strategic courses of action to local, tribal, state, and federal entities that are responsible for managing the Bighorn River system resources.
