The Bureau of Reclamation has awarded a $150,000 construction contract for installation of inspection manholes on the water intake system for the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery located on Icicle Creek near Leavenworth, Washington.

The contract was awarded to Macnak Construction of Lakewood, WA on Feb 2, 2012. The work involves excavation and installation of two manholes on the existing water intake pipeline. This work will provide access to the interior of the pipeline to be inspected using a remotely operated vehicle equipped with a video camera.

"Having a means to inspect the pipeline is the first step toward upgrading the hatchery's water intake system," said Reclamation Regional Director Lorri Lee.

The work is scheduled to start on April 18 and be completed by April 27, 2012.

Funded by Reclamation and managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery is one of three hatcheries, including Winthrop and Entiat, which comprise the Leavenworth Fisheries Complex. Reclamation funds operation of the hatcheries to provide fish mitigation for impacts resulting from the construction of Grand Coulee Dam.
