Media Contact: Pete Lucero MP Region Public Affairs Officer, 916-978-5100, 02/27/2012 12:54

For Release: February 27, 2012

The Bureau of Reclamation’s New Melones Lake area will host U.S. Forest Service staff for a special training event at Angels Creek in the Glory Hole Recreation Area from Monday, Feb. 27 through Friday, March 9, 2012. This event is a component of the Forest Service’s driver certification process and will feature emergency vehicle operator and fire engine driver’s training.

Due to concerns for public safety during the training, the gate at the intersection of Glory Hole Road and Angels Creek Road will be locked, restricting access to the Angels Creek Road, boat launch, parking lot and  Buck Brush Day Use Area. Although the area will be closed for the 10 weekdays, it will be opened during the weekend from Friday evening, March 2 through late Sunday afternoon, March 4.

For more information about this closure or other questions about New Melones Lake, please contact the New Melones Lake Recreation Resources Branch office at 209-536-9094 ext. 0 (TTY 800-877-8339), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or visit www.usbr.gov/mp/ccao/newmelones/index.html.
