Media Contact: Jeffrey McCracken, 916-978-5100, 02/07/2005 14:20

For Release: February 07, 2005

The Bureau of Reclamation will hold a public meeting to present information on plans to build traffic control barricades on Boca Dam. The barricades are needed for possible future restrictions of vehicles driving across crossing the dam. The public is invited to attend this informational meeting:

Truckee, CA Friday, February 18, at 7 p.m. Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District 10046 Church Street

Boca Dam and Reservoir, part of Reclamation's Truckee Storage Project, are located on the Little Truckee River, about 6 miles east of Truckee, California, and 27 miles west of Reno, Nevada.

Security assessments of Boca Dam identified a security vulnerability derived in part from public access on the Reclamation-owned road across the dam. Reclamation plans to construct barriers that may be used at times to restrict vehicles from crossing the dam road. The meeting will inform the public about the upcoming construction activities.

For additional information or if special assistance is required to attend the meeting, please contact Mr. Pablo Arroyave, Deputy Area Manager, Lahontan Basin Area Office, Carson City, Nevada, at 775-882-3436.
