Media Advisory: Reclamation and California State Parks to Celebrate New Managing Partner Agreement for the Folsom and Auburn State Recreation Areas

America's Great OutdoorsThe Bureau of Reclamation and the California Department of Parks and Recreation (State Parks) will hold a celebration for the recently signed 25-year Auburn-Folsom-Natoma Managing Partner Agreement under which State Parks will continue to manage the Folsom and Auburn State Recreation Areas. These areas consist of Folsom Lake, Lake Natoma and the Auburn Project Lands, including Lake Clementine. Media are welcome to attend.

What: Event celebrating the signing of this significant 25-year Managing Partner Agreement. Participants will sign a commemorative certificate celebrating the new agreement.

When: Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at 10 a.m.

Where: Canyon View Community Center, 471 Maidu Drive, Auburn, CA 95603

Tour: Following the ceremony, media may participate in a tour of the American River Confluence (where the North and Middle Forks of the American River join). Media packets provided at the event will include a map to the site. The Managing Partner Agreement will foster the area’s connection with President Obama’s America's Great Outdoors initiative (http://americasgreatoutdoors.gov) which focuses on reconnecting Americans to their natural environments. The agreement benefits local communities and the public by ensuring that recreation is available safely and efficiently at Folsom Lake, Lake Natoma and the Auburn Project Lands. Recreation at these areas also supports the Department of the Interior’s Let’s Move Outside! and Youth in the Great Outdoors initiatives. From Sacramento: Take Hwy. 80 East to Maple Street exit and follow it up to Auburn-Folsom Road (the courthouse will be on your right). Maple Street changes into Auburn-Folsom Road as you pass through the intersection. Continue on Auburn-Folsom Road until you get to Maidu Drive. Turn left on Maidu Drive and follow Maidu until it dead ends. Turn left. The building will be on the right.

From Reno:

Take Hwy. 80 West to Hwy. 49 exit. At the light, turn right onto Hwy. 49 (south). Take that to Lincoln Way and turn right. Follow to Auburn-Folsom Road. Follow to Maidu Drive. Turn left to Maidu Drive and follow Maidu until it dead-ends. Turn left. The building is on the right.
