Media Contact: Peter Soeth, 303-445-3615, psoeth@usbr.gov

For Release: December 01, 2011

An additional 90-day comment period will be provided by the Bureau of Reclamation on draft requirements for water project feasibility studies beginning in January. The extended comment period on the first phase of review – open for public comment since late September – expired Nov. 25, 2011.

Comments received to date are being reviewed by Reclamation and appropriate changes will be incorporated to the updated drafts available in January when the new comment period begins. Once the public comment period is reopened, Reclamation staff will be available to provide information and address questions on the draft requirements in a variety of forums.

The requirements were published for review in a draft release on September 22. As a result of significant interest, the comment period was extended for an additional 30 days at the end of October. The draft update continues to be available at http://on.doi.gov/qUPZPo. The original draft release is:

  • Draft RM D&S Water and Related Resources Feasibility Studies (CMP 09-02).
The Reclamation Manual establishes Reclamation requirements, assigns program responsibility and establishes and documents Reclamation methods of doing business. To learn more about the Reclamation Manual, please visit www.usbr.gov/recman.
