Reclamation Extends Comment Period on Requirements for Lease of Power Privilege Requirements

Media Contact: Peter Soeth, 303-445-3615

For Release: November 17, 2011

The Bureau of Reclamation has extended the period seeking public comment on the draft directive and standard for Lease of Power Privilege at Reclamation facilities. The comment period originally was to close at 5 PM on December 5, 2011. With today’s announced extension, comments on the draft guidelines will continue to be accepted until 5 PM, January 15, 2012.

Lease of Power Privilege is used when Reclamation chooses to lease its right to develop power at one of its facilities when that power development doesn't interfere with other authorized project purposes.

The Reclamation Manual establishes Reclamation requirements, assigns program responsibility and establishes and documents Reclamation methods of doing business.

The draft directive and standard is available for detailed review at: www.usbr.gov/recman. A summary of the draft update can be found at: http://on.doi.gov/ubhrfm.
