For Release: January 28, 2005

Reclamation is nearing completion of a nine month repair project to perform required maintenance on the 4x4 auxiliary outlet gates at Navajo Dam, NM. An outlet gate is a high pressure gate that releases water from the reservoir.

From February 5 through February 11, Reclamation will continue with its work to deconstruct a 2,500 square-foot barge in Navajo Reservoir that is located adjacent to the boat ramp at the Pineriver Recreation Area. Deconstruction activities may necessitate periodic closure of the boat ramp while the work is in process. Local traffic control officers will direct traffic through the area while the ramp is closed. The public should expect slight delays at the Pineriver boat ramp.

For more information call Randy Green with the Bureau of Reclamation at 970-385-6527.

Note: Reclamation released a press release Wednesday, January 26 that warning that delays would be January 31-February 9. On Thursday, January 27, Reclamation was informed that due to unforeseen circumstances the deconstruction wouldn’t start until February 5. We apologize for any inconvenience this date change may have caused.
