Draft Environmental Assessment for Lauro Dam Seismic Retrofit Available for Public Review

The Bureau of Reclamation has prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for a seismic retrofit of Lauro Dam in Santa Barbara County, California, under Reclamation's Safety of Dams Program. The Draft EA was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, and discusses potential impacts to the human environment. The Draft EA is being released for a 30-day public review and comment period.

Written comments must be received by close of business on July 30, 2004, and should be sent to Michael Kinsey, Bureau of Reclamation, 1243 "N" Street, Fresno, California 93721-1813, or faxed to 559-487-5397.

Copies of the Draft EA are being sent to local, State, and Federal agencies, and to members of the public who have indicated an interest in the project. The Draft EA is also online at: www.usbr.gov/mp/sccao under the link "Safety of Dams Projects."
