The Boise Project Board of Control (BPBOC) and the Bureau of Reclamation continue to investigate potential sources that may be contributing to the elevated groundwater in a southeast Boise neighborhood.

During the week of October 10, Reclamation will begin drilling monitoring wells along South Minuteman Way and above and below the New York Canal.

These wells will provide water level data and possibly help determine the sources of elevated groundwater and its pathway. The drill work will take four to six weeks to complete. "This data will help us better understand the groundwater activity in this area and hopefully allow us to identify potential water sources," says Vicki Hoffman, Operations and Maintenance Manager at Reclamation's Middle Snake Field Office.

On Aug. 3, homeowners along South Minuteman Way reported water collecting in their backyards and crawlspaces. BPBOC and Reclamation crews were dispatched to inspect the canal and surrounding area. A thorough inspection and subsequent monitoring efforts indicate that the canal is structurally stable.
