Reclamation Increases Flows in the Stanislaus River

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers websiteOn Monday, Sept. 12, the Bureau of Reclamation will incrementally increase releases from New Melones Dam into the Stanislaus River from 400 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 2,000 cfs. The higher releases are necessary to manage the reservoir’s flood space and will remain at that rate until further notice.

New Melones Dam and Reservoir features of the Central Valley Project and are located between Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties, in the Sierra Nevada foothills near Jamestown, Calif. People recreating in or along the Stanislaus River downstream from Goodwin Dam to the confluence of the San Joaquin and Stanislaus Rivers should take appropriate safety precautions with the increased flows.
