For Release: September 07, 2011

BOULDER CITY, NV. The reduced water flows from Davis Dam that were previously scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, September 12 and 13, have been cancelled.

The lower water releases were planned to enable a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service contractor to excavate an opening in the riverbank for a firebreak canal in Topock Marsh, located approximately 30 miles downstream from Davis Dam. The work was accomplished earlier than expected so the reduced flows are no longer required for this activity.

Therefore, river flows below Davis Dam on September 12 and 13 will be within normal levels, ranging from about 4,600 cubic feet per second (cfs) in the early morning and late night hours to approximately 23,000 cfs in the daytime.

For further information on the river’s status, daily and hourly information on releases from Reclamation's Colorado River dams is available http://www.usbr.gov/lc/riverops.html, or contact the Water Operations Control Center at: 702-293-8373, or by e-mail at: Waterops@usbr.gov.
