For Release: August 29, 2011

The Bureau of Reclamation has released for public review a Draft Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for Anderson-Cottonwood Irrigation District’s Groundwater Production Element Project, a Sacramento Valley Integrated Regional Water Management Program Grant.

Reclamation proposes to provide Sacramento Valley Integrated Regional Water Management Program (SVIRWMP) grant funding for the installation of two new groundwater wells in Anderson-Cottonwood Irrigation District's (ACID) service area. This project would improve the flexibility and reliability of ACID’s water supply, particularly during dry and critically dry water years.

Under the SVIRWMP, Reclamation provides financial assistance to support activities that promote the preparation and revision of written regional water management or conservation plans, implement activities identified in such plans, demonstrate new or previously unknown water management technologies and practices, and promote improved understanding of good water use practices and principles.

The Draft Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact (Draft EA/FONSI) were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, and are available online at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=8081. If you encounter problems accessing the document, please call 916-978-5100 or e-mail mppublicaffairs@usbr.gov.
