For Release: August 29, 2011
State Highway 61 has been closed at Enders Dam since August 12 for maintenance activities on the bridge across the dam spillway. The highway will be reopened from September 1 to 5 to accommodate increased traffic over Labor Day weekend. The highway will be closed again from September 6 through 20 to finish maintenance activities.
Traffic will continue to be detoured via gravel roads to the east of Enders Dam while the bridge is closed. Truck traffic is encouraged to use alternate routes.
Enders Dam, located 7 miles southeast of Imperial, Neb., is a feature of the Frenchman-Cambridge Division, providing flood control for areas downstream of the dam, irrigation water, fish and wildlife conservation enhancement, and recreational opportunities.
