For Release: August 29, 2011

Trenton Dam Road has been closed since early July due to ongoing maintenance of the bridge across the spillway. In addition to the bridge maintenance work, a construction contract has been awarded to Road Builders, Inc. of Murrieta, CA for $141,800.00 for selectively placing additional riprap on the face of Trenton Dam. The additional riprap is needed to reinforce areas where ice and waves have displaced the existing riprap.

Recreation road 44B across Trenton Dam will continue to be closed through the end of September to accommodate both construction projects. Traffic will continue to be detoured via State Highway 25 through the city of Trenton, NE.

Trenton Dam, located 2.5 miles west of the town of Trenton, NE, is a feature of the Frenchman-Cambridge Division, providing flood control for areas downstream of the dam, irrigation water, fish and wildlife conservation enhancement, and recreational opportunities.
