Media Contact: Pete Lucero, 916-978-5100, plucero@usbr.gov

For Release: August 26, 2011

The Bureau of Reclamation and the California Department of Water Resources are pleased to announce that we have jointly developed the CalLite 2.00 (Beta) Model, a central valley water resources management screening tool. We are also co-sponsoring a technical workshop with the California Water and Environmental Modeling Forum to present this new water resource management planning tool in:

Sacramento Monday, August 29, 2011 1-4:30 p.m. 650 Capitol Mall Stanford Room-First Floor

The workshop will be conducted in two parts. The first part will be an hour-long session to provide an overview of the new CalLite model, present an interactive demo and discuss procedures to download and install the model. The second part will be a 2-hour-long session to provide an introductory-level hands-on training opportunity on the use of the model. If you are interested in attending the second part, please bring your laptop.

The CalLite model is posted on the following website: http://baydeltaoffice.water.ca.gov/modeling/hydrology/CalLite/index.cfm. Attendees are encouraged to download the CalLite model on their laptops prior to attending the workshop. The website also provides model documentation and instructions on how to install the model software on your laptop. The second part of the training will be interactive, and having the CalLite model already downloaded will make it easier to navigate the second part of the workshop.

To attend this workshop, please contact Nazrul Islam, California Department of Water Resources nislam@water.ca.gov or 916-653-8727. Please note that all workshop participants will have to go through the security check point in order to enter the building.
