Bureau of Reclamation Seeks Public Comments on Proposed Repairs to Tsaile Dam

Phoenix - The Bureau of Reclamation is issuing a draft Environmental Assessment to solicit public comments on proposal repairs to Tsaile Dam on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Apache County, Ariz. Tsaile Dam is approximately 21 miles northeast of Chinle, Ariz. The dam is owned and operated by the Navajo Nation.

The project is intended to correct safety deficiencies that could jeopardize the structural integrity of Tsaile Dam. Corrective action is needed to reduce the probability of embankment failure and associated risk to the public from continued impoundment of water behind the dam.
