For Release: July 27, 2011

The Bureau of Reclamation has announced that Santa Barbara County will continue to manage recreational facilities at Cachuma Lake, and begin managing land surrounding the lake. The new Resource Management Plan will be carried out under a new long term recreation management agreement with Santa Barbara County.

The Lake Cachuma Resource Management Plan, which encompasses 9,250 acres, will allow enhancement of current recreational uses and public access while protecting water quality, and natural and cultural resources. Reclamation has retained ownership of all Cachuma Lake facilities and is responsible for the operation of Bradbury Dam, which forms Cachuma Lake.

Reclamation signed the Record of Decision for the Lake Cachuma Resource Management Plan/Environmental Impact Statement in May 2011. For additional information, please call Sheryl Carter at Reclamation's South-Central California Area Office at 559-487-5299 (TDD 1-800-735-2929).
