For Release: July 15, 2011

Reclamation has released the final environmental assessment and a Finding of No Significant Impact for a fish screen in Rifle Creek below Rifle Gap Reservoir and will issue a license agreement to allow the screen to be constructed.

The fish screen was proposed by the Colorado Division of Wildlife to prevent or minimize the movement of non-native fish into endangered fish habitat in the Colorado River via Rifle Creek. The fish screen will assist in the recovery of the endangered Colorado River fish and potentially facilitate management and stocking of a warm water recreational fishery in Rifle Gap Reservoir.

The final EA and the FONSI have been completed in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and can be found on our website. For more information, contact Steve McCall at 970-248-0638.
