The Bureau of Reclamation is advising the public to be aware of a traffic detour due to roadway construction at Anderson Ranch Dam beginning June 16. Anderson Ranch Dam is located on the South Fork of the Boise River about 28 miles northeast of Mountain Home, Idaho.

Construction hours will be from 6:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. starting June 16 and continuing for the next couple of weeks. During the time the asphalt cap is being applied to the roadway, all traffic will be stopped from passing over the dam. After the asphalt cap is placed, traffic will be allowed to cross the dam crest.

Traffic will be directed to the Prairie turnoff, 5 miles south of the Anderson Ranch Dam until the new asphalt cap is placed. Jersey barriers will also be put in place as a safety precaution.

Construction at Anderson Ranch Dam involves raising the dam's crest 4 feet with compacted fill to create a 19 foot one-way travel lane. At a later date and under a separate contract, Reclamation will oversee the installation of a new traffic control system. PNK Constructors, LLC of Coalville, Utah, was awarded the $386,050 roadway contract on September 20, 2010.

Reclamation built the dam in 1950 as part of the Arrowrock Division of the Boise Project. This is a multipurpose facility that provides for irrigation, flood control, hydropower, and recreation.
