Media Contact: Pete Lucero, 916 978-5100, plucero@usbr.gov

For Release: June 03, 2011

The Bureau of Reclamation has released for public review a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) on demolition and removal of the Battle Mountain Community Pasture barn. The barn is part of Reclamation's Humboldt Project, which is operated and managed by the Pershing County Water Conservation District. Because the barn is unusable and no longer structurally sound, its removal is necessary for safety reasons. The Battle Mountain Community Pasture barn is located east of the town of Battle Mountain, on the north side of I-80.

The Draft EA/FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and may be viewed online. If you encounter problems accessing the documents online, please call 916-978-5100 (TTY 916-978-5608) or e-mail mpPublicAffairs@usbr.gov. The Draft EA/FONSI are also available for public review at the Lander County Library, 625 South Broad Street, Battle Mountain, NV 89820, 775-635-2534.

Written comments on the Draft EA/FONSI are due by Friday, June 17, 2011, and should be mailed to Andrea Minor, Bureau of Reclamation, 705 N. Plaza Street, Room 320, Carson City, NV 89701-4015, or faxed to 775-882-7592, or e-mailed to aminor@usbr.gov. For additional information, please contact Ms. Minor at 775-884-8366 or aminor@usbr.gov.
