For Release: March 18, 2011

The Bureau of Reclamation announces that Upper Klamath Lake (UKL) is expected to reach an elevation of 4142.70 feet by today, Friday, March 18. Consistent with Reclamation's operations plan for March 2011, developed in coordination with the National Marine Fisheries Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, releases from Link River Dam will increase with the objective of maintaining UKL near 4142.70 feet until March 31. If the area continues to receive above-average rainfall, UKL will likely end the month above elevation 4142.70. The full operations plan can be found at www.usbr.gov/mp/kbao.

Increases from Link River Dam and additional weather-related inflows downriver may cause unpredictable fluctuations of Klamath River flows below Iron Gate Dam. People planning to spend time on the river should be aware of the weather and river conditions, keeping in mind that river flows below Iron Gate Dam may change rapidly.
