Road Closure of Glen Elder Dam Road for Maintenance Work

The Bureau of Reclamation awarded a construction contract of $434,763.49 to Joe Funk Construction Engineers of Dallas for routine repairs to the soil cement on the upstream face of Glen Elder Dam.

The work is scheduled to begin March 7th and be completed by May 20th. The road across Glen Elder Dam will be closed for the duration of construction. Traffic will be detoured directly below the dam on country road 716-1 and through the town of Glen Elder, Kansas.

Glen Elder Dam, located adjacent to the town of Glen Elder, is the principal feature of the Glen Elder Unit providing flood control for areas downstream of the dam, irrigation and municipal water, fish and wildlife conservation enhancement, and recreational opportunities.
