Media Contact: Pete Lucero, 916 978-5100, plucero@usbr.gov

For Release: February 15, 2011

The Bureau of Reclamation has released for public review a Draft Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for a 2011-2013 Groundwater Transfer/Exchange Program between Tranquillity Irrigation District and San Luis Water District.

The proposed action is similar to the 2009-2011 Tranquillity Irrigation District/San Luis Water District Groundwater Transfer/Exchange Program that will conclude on February 28, 2011. For the period of March 2011 through February 2013, the proposed action would allow the transfer of up to 7,500 acre-feet of water per year from the Tranquillity Irrigation District (TID) to the San Luis Water District (SLWD), but would cap total transfers for the two-year period at 15,000 acre-feet.

The Draft Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact (Draft EA/FONSI) were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available online at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=7276.
