BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Lorri Gray-Lee, Regional Director for the Bureau of Reclamation's Lower Colorado Region, today announced that Ms. Jeannette "Rose" Davis is the Lower Colorado Region's new External Affairs Officer.

"Rose has over 20 years experience as a public affairs specialist," Gray-Lee noted. "Most recently, she was a Press Officer/Media Liaison for the Forest Service in Missoula, Montana. She has been a successful communicator throughout her career, and we look forward to her leadership in sharing information about Reclamation programs and activities with the many people concerned with and involved in the current and future water and related resource issues in the lower Colorado River Basin."

Ms. Davis, who will work out of the Regional Office in Boulder City, Nev., fills the vacancy left by the retirement of former Regional External Affairs Officer Bob Walsh earlier this year.

Ms. Davis began her federal career as a public affairs specialist with the U.S. Forest Service's Coconino National Forest office in Flagstaff, Ariz., in February 1990. From there, she was selected for progressively complex public affairs positions within the Forest Service, moving to the Caribou National Forest/Curlew National Grasslands office in Pocatello, Idaho, in 1993; to the Forest Service Intermountain Regional Office in Ogden, Utah, in 2000; and to the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) in Boise, Idaho, in 2001. At NIFC, she was the lead Public Affairs Officer for the Forest Service's Fire and Aviation Management Program. She joins Reclamation from her current position as media liaison in Missoula, Mont.

Ms. Davis received a Bachelor's degree from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz., in 1982 and a Masters Degree in Public Administration with a Natural Resource Management Emphasis from Boise State University in Boise, Idaho, in 2005.

She is a published author, and a founding team member of InciWeb.org. This website, created by Forest Service employees, is a one-stop interagency wildfire and all-hazard information site for the public, media and elected officials across the country. She also holds Type 1 Public Information Officer qualifications under the National Incident Management System.

Ms. Davis can be contacted by telephone at (702) 293-8421, by e-mail at jdavis@usbr.gov, or by cell phone at (702) 591-0029.
