Reclamation Releases Draft Environmental Documents for Eastside Conveyance Project

The Bureau of Reclamation has released a Draft Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact regarding a transfer of water from the San Luis Canal Company to Panoche Water District.

Under the proposal, up to 5,000 acre-feet per year of Central Valley Project water would be transferred from the San Luis Canal Company, from March 1, 2011 through December 31, 2020. It would be conveyed in existing facilities, under the Eastside Bypass and through an existing siphon, to the headworks of new conveyance facilities that would be constructed for the transfer to the Panoche Water District.

The Draft Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact (Draft EA/FONSI) were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=6476.
