For Release: November 02, 2010

The Bureau of Reclamation is in the process of preparing a resource management plan and accompanying environmental assessment for Jordanelle Reservoir near Heber City, UT. The main purpose of the plan is to provide a 10-year framework for the orderly and coordinated development and management of the land and recreational aspect under Reclamation jurisdiction. The RMP will not address or change water operations of the reservoir.

The EA is intended to meet the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act and will identify and evaluate potential management alternatives and environmental effects that may be associated with implementation of the RMP.

Interested parties may attend the public meeting to address the RMP and submit comments on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 7 p.m. at the Hailstone Event Center located at Jordanelle State Park, approximately 11 miles northeast of Heber City. Public participation will be an ongoing activity during development of the RMP and EA. Reclamation will consider all comments received in response to this notice and will prepare a draft RMP and EA that will be made available for public review and comment. Franson Civil Engineers has been hired by Reclamation to prepare the RMP and the EA.
