Temporary Acquisition of Water from Merced Irrigation District for East Bear Creek Unit of San Luis National Wildlife Refuge

The Bureau of Reclamation has released for public review and comments the Draft Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact (EA/FONSI) for the temporary acquisition of water for the East Bear Creek Unit of the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge for wetlands management.

Reclamation will enter into a temporary water service contract with the Merced Irrigation District to provide a minimum of 500 acre-feet and up to a maximum of 2,000 acre-feet of water in November and December 2010 for wetland habitat management. The proposed action does not involve any construction activities and will not cause any land use changes.
