For Release: October 07, 2010

The Bureau of Reclamation today released for public review a Draft Environmental Assessment and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact on Delano-Earlimart Irrigation District grants that would help fund an expansion project.  The district would receive a WaterSMART: Water and Energy Efficiency Grant and a Field Services Grant.

The Delano-Earlimart Irrigation District's Turnipseed Expansion Project would provide the district with additional facilities to recharge groundwater supplies and allow better management of varied water resources.  The project includes installing flow meters inside the district's turnout into the Turnipseed Basin and constructing a new 80-acre basin immediately south of the existing Turnipseed Basin.  The project is in southern Tulare County, California.

The Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available at: http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=6516.
