For Release: September 24, 2010

The Bureau of Reclamation awarded a $588,903.60 contract on September 15 to Global Eagle Security, LLC, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., to provide armed security guard services in and around Davis Dam.

The award also allows Reclamation to extend the contract for an additional four years. If all four option years are exercised, the contract's ultimate value would exceed more than $3.1 million.

Global Eagle guards will help ensure a safe working environment for Reclamation employees and contractor staff, complementing Reclamation's security program for this dam.

Davis Dam is located on the Colorado River between Arizona and Nevada near the communities of Laughlin, Nev., and Bullhead City, Ariz. Constructed between 1941 and 1953, the structure re-regulates water releases from Hoover Dam to meet downstream needs, including annual deliveries to Mexico.

As of April 2004, the roadway across the dam has been closed to vehicle traffic. However, pedestrian and bicycle access to the dam is still allowed.
