The Bureau of Reclamation announced today the contract of $1.8 million, for replacement of power transformers at Boysen Powerplant in Fremont County, Wyoming, has been awarded to Koontz Electric Company of Morrilton, Arkansas.

"The three single-phase transformers currently in service at Boysen Powerplant are original and approaching 60 years of service," said John Lawson, Wyoming Area Office Manager. "They are beginning to experience reduced efficiency and are becoming expensive to maintain."

The new state-of-the-art transformers, with an electrical capacity of 22 megawatts collectively, will be more efficient and will accommodate a planned future upgrade of the powerplant's two generators.

The total contract award amount is $1,818,181.00; and Reclamation has obligated $822,000 this Fiscal Year. The onsite work is expected to begin within six to eight months.
