On September 30, 1935, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt dedicated Hoover Dam.

To mark the 75th anniversary of that event, the Bureau of Reclamation will conduct several special activities at the dam from Thursday, September 30, through Sunday, October 3.

Over this four-day period, tickets for the Power Plant Tour and Visitor Center admission will be reduced to $7.50 per person, and the Hoover Dam vendors will have hotdogs and bottled water available for purchase for $0.75 each at select locations around the dam.

Also, beginning on September 30 and continuing until the supply is exhausted, commemorative 75th anniversary coins made of copper from the dam will be available for purchase.

On September 30 only:

- A commemorative ceremony will be held in the parking area next to the Winged Figures of the Republic statues from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. PDT. Anne Castle, the Department of the Interior's Assistant Secretary, Water and Science, and Michael Connor, Commissioner of Reclamation, will keynote this event. Expected attendees include lower Colorado River water user organizations, Hoover Dam power customers, Congressional staff, Colorado River Basin State representatives, and other parties. This event may also be webcast live for public viewing. Visit Reclamation's web page at http://www.usbr.gov/lc/hooverdam/ on Wednesday, September 29, for more information.

- The U.S. Postal Service will be at Hoover Dam to sell limited edition envelopes highlighting the dam's 75 years of service. The purchase price of the envelopes will be $7.50 each. The USPS will also have special collector postmark available that day to apply to postcards.

"Hoover Dam has significantly and positively impacted the American Southwest as well as the design and construction of dams and the development of water resources management projects around the world," said Lorri Gray-Lee, Director of Reclamation's Lower Colorado Region. "It is fitting to commemorate its 75th anniversary, and to look forward to its continued service to the people of the Southwest and the Nation."
