The Bureau of Reclamation announced today the merger of two marina operations at Vallecito Reservoir located near Durango, Colo. The merger is taking place between Angler's Wharf and Doc's Marina. There will be no change in locations and services at the reservoir, however, the Angler's Wharf location will continue to operate on a limited season basis depending on water surface elevation.

The Pine River Irrigation District received concurrence from Reclamation to authorize the merger which involves the sale of Angler's Wharf to Doc's Marina. This action is pursuant to the 1996 Vallecito Reservoir Resource Management Plan and Final Environmental Assessment which established a goal to provide a single marina operation on the federal estate for the purpose of improving public services and non-federal concession management by the district.

According to the scheduled closing date for the marina sale contract and assignment of the concession contract by the district, the merger will become effective on January 3, 2011.

For more information, please contact Mark Chiarito (Reclamation) at 385-6577 or Hal Pierce (District) at 884-2558.
