For Release: August 25, 2010

The Bureau of Reclamation has released for public review and comment a Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed implementation of a stream restoration project on the Upper Truckee River in El Dorado County, California.

Depending on which alternative is selected, the proposed restoration project may include continuing use of the Lake Tahoe Golf Course, removing the entire golf course, or reconfiguring the course. The project is intended to reduce the area of the river and its drainage occupied by the golf course, and establish a buffer area between the golf course and the river.

Two public meetings will be held on Oct. 13, 2010, and Oct. 27, 2010, at 9:30 a.m., at the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, 128 Market St., Stateline, NV, to receive oral and written comments regarding the project's environmental effects.

The California State Parks and Recreation is the lead agency on the project, and Reclamation is providing grant funds.

The Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS) were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act.
