For Release: July 29, 2010

The Bureau of Reclamation is conducting the second in a series of public workshops in conjunction with the preparation of a Regional Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement for the Contra Loma Reservoir and Recreation Area.  The meeting will allow public comment on plans for managing area resources and land, developing recreational uses and facilities, and assessing any environmental impacts.

Contra Loma Reservoir and Recreation Area (CLRRA), near Antioch in Contra Costa County, is part of the Central Valley Project.  The recreation area is operated and maintained by the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) under an agreement with Reclamation.  The agreement includes multiple subleases, issued by EBRPD, which will expire on December 31, 2010.  Reclamation is pursuing the renewal of a new CLRRA management agreement as a part of its public outreach process.

The Regional Management Plan (RMP) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) would establish uniform policy and guidelines that meet state and federal laws and ensure organized use, development, and management of CLRRA.  Public concerns will be addressed in the RMP/EIS.

The workshop will be held:
Wednesday, August 4, 2010,
6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Sutter Elementary School
3410 Longview Road, Antioch, CA, 94509
