The Bureau of Reclamation's Yuma Area Office announced today the release of a Final Environmental Assessment (FEA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed City of Yuma Land Conveyance project.

As described in the FEA, Reclamation proposes to exchange parcels of land with the City of Yuma to assist the city with revitalization of its historic downtown area. Since the project will affect Reclamation lands, it is subject to review and comment under the National Environmental Policy Act.

In reviewing the proposed action, Reclamation determined that the conveyance of lands between Reclamation and the City of Yuma will not result in a significant impact. As such, Reclamation signed a FONSI and determined that an environmental impact statement would not be necessary. Copies of the FEA and FONSI are available for review online at: http://www.usbr.gov/lc/yuma/environmental_docs/environ_docs.html .

Any questions regarding this proposed action should be addressed to Mr. Nick Heatwole, Environmental Protection Specialist, Bureau of Reclamation, 7301 Calle Agua Salada, Yuma, AZ 85364. You may also contact Mr. Heatwole by e-mail, at: nheatwole@usbr.gov.
