The Bureau of Reclamation is again increasing flows from Palisades Dam. Water managers will raise the outflow from Palisades Dam from 14,000 cubic feet per second to 17,000 cfs.

Palisades Dam is located on the Snake River about 70 miles east of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

This higher flow will raise Snake River levels below the dam to less than a foot and still leave room in the reservoir for anticipated water storage for irrigation and power demands.

"River levels are subject to change frequently at this time of year as we adjust our storage throughout the Upper Snake River system," said Chris Ketchum, Deputy Manager of the Snake River Area Office.

He also advised that river recreationists should be prepared for changeable conditions more consistent with an unregulated river. Flows from Palisades Dam have almost doubled since Friday, June 4, but this latest increase to 17,000 cfs will still be below the average for this time of year.
