The Boy Scouts of America and the Sacramento Tree Foundation, in partnership with the Bureau of Reclamation, will be planting 100 trees at Reclamation's Central California Area Office (CCAO) near Folsom Dam in celebration of the Boy Scouts' 100th anniversary. The trees, which were donated by the Sacramento Tree Foundation through a grant from Sacramento Municipal Utility District, will promote the enhancement and restoration of vegetation in the area.

The majority of the trees will be planted surrounding the American River Water Education Center (ARWEC) at 7785 Folsom Dam Road, Folsom, which focuses on water conservation and features a water-efficient landscape.

This event, as part of a year-long celebration, honors the 100th anniversary of The Boy Scouts of America. The Scouts will be recognized as participants in Take Pride in America®, a nationwide partnership program authorized by Congress to promote the appreciation and stewardship of our nation's public lands. The Take Pride in America program is administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior for the benefit of all public lands at all levels of government nationwide.

This project is part of an effort at CCAO to promote the preservation of natural resources and ecosystems on Reclamation project lands and to manage lands in a way that enhances conditions for fish, wildlife, land, and cultural resources.

CCAO Area Manager Mike Finnegan stated, "We appreciate the dedication demonstrated by the Boy Scouts and the Sacramento Tree Foundation to improve the natural environment and thank them for all the effort they have put into this project."
